The 'Delargo Towers' Garden - December

December has proved to be the warmest ( and wettest ) ever ! In our area we have had Daffodils, Canna lilies, snowdrops jasmine and camellias all in flower this month
but nothing can top our delight with having our dahlia imperialis flower at last.

It is a rather ugly brute of a plant but the flowers are so delicate.

It has gone down to -3'c at the end of last month and taken more batterings from more storm force winds than I thought possible.

More seasonal are the window boxes. We decided to stick just to one variety of violas this year.

Viola – Morpho

The front border is a lot more full this year a lovely light purple osteospermum is giving us colour, while the wallflowers and foxgloves are waiting to do their stuff in the Spring

In the garden itself we still have a little colour.

This very early Anemone De Caen might be a bit nibbled but is still a joy to see.

The last of the cosmos. They did us proud this year but we will try another variety next

The top garden looks a bit bleak this month but we have high hopes for next year.

Out with the old year in with the new !

We have a lot to look forward to

and we have not started sowing seeds in earnest yet

The 'Delargo Towers' Garden - November

Hello me dears Summer is well and truly over and we are almost at the end of November.
A rotten Summer to be sure but the cosmos have done us proud this year.

The ones in the second bed are particularly tall and look fab en-mas.

A few of our fuchsias

Penstemon

The ipomea is trying to make up for lost time but the weather is against it

We have started to get the front organised for the change of season and the wallflowers are in.

Along with a few of the Iochroma australis

Dahlias are being lifted ready to be shipped to Essex.

and the Summer widow boxes have been replaced -
with viola 'Morpho'

The beds -

Dahlia Imperialis  'Tree Dahlia', It might not be its promised 20' and might not have a flower but we love it

The 'Delargo Towers' Garden - October

Here we are again me dears with another late garden post and a quick round up of what was looking good in October

Ipomoea 'heavenly blue' has finally started to do its stuff and is heavenly.

The dahlias gave us a fab splash of colour.

A plant no garden should be without Asarina and its is still flowering away.

as are the Verbena – Aztec – Red Velvet

and Calibrachoa – cabaret – bright red

We were very pleased with the Mirabilis jalapa which was new to the garden this year.

We have used nasturtiums to cover bare ground, especially behind the apple trees.

This is a single plant by the way.

The cosmos, Verbena bonariensis – Purple top and final flush of the hollyhock have been a joy.

All in all we are over the moon with what we have achieved in one year mainly from seeds and cuttings

all this

and Foxgloves in October too.

There we are me dears so till next month
