The 'Delargo Towers' Garden - September.

September has been and gone,  but these photos were all taken mid-month.

We did well for late Summer colour.

and the two beds are looking good.

We even managed to fill the back of the garden

The apple trees have every disease going but were full off little apples and made a good support for Nasturtiums.

The pots are filling space everywhere else.

and are home to the massive Dahlia Imperialis; no flowers yet !

Coboea scandens

A single enormous Nasturtium  filling the back border

We have plenty of newbies this year - Penstemon mixed colours – "Cottage Garden variety"

Salvia patens “Patio Deep Blue”

Perovskia atriplicifolia “Blue Spire” (Russian Sage)

Salvia longispicata x farinacea "Mystic Blue"

the Cosmos (bipinnatus 'Sensation Mixed') are the best we have ever had and looking fab heading into October.

a new dark Osteospermum

Lobelia “Fan Burgundy”

Another Dahlia ('Bishop's Children') worth keeping

The Night-scented Phlox (Zaluzianskya ovata) is a tiny plant but has tons of wonderful perfume.

Verbena "Aztec - Pink Magic"

The long awaited Ipomoea (Morning Glory) “Heavenly Blue” had just come into flower in time for this post; more next month we hope.

We don't usually post photos of the indoor plants but a second flowering of the Peace Lily (Spathiphyllum) is an exception.

To close, we have a quick look inside our plastic greenhouse. The Fuchsia cuttings are doing nicely as are the little plantlets we got on special offer. They were tiny but are growing away as we speak.

    Coreopsis 'Golden Joy'

    Armeria 'Ballerina' mixed

    Verbena bonariensis

    Aquilegia 'Swan' mixed

    Geum 'Blazing Sunset'

    Scabiosa 'Blue Jeans'

They are all hardy so fingers crossed. Work has already started on moving the wallflowers we grew from seed last Spring, so stay tuned for the next post, which with a little luck might be on time

Film Noir.

Hello me dears,
as some of you now I do love my old films and on the whole not keen on many after the 60s.
When we first moved to London all those years ago I imagined visiting the B.F.I. to get a regular fix alas that was never to be. far to many films I didn't want to see or they where on at times and dates that weren't possible for me.

So to make up here are a few faves from one of my fave genres. Film Noir.
At random as usual. Click each film title for more info

 The Letter (1940)

Double Indemnity (1944)

To Have and Have Not (1944)

The Lady from Shanghai (1947)

Mildred Pierce (1945)

The Maltese Falcon (1941)

Witness for the Prosecution (1957)

The Big Sleep (1946)

And of course
What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962)

To be fair to the BFI I am sure all these films have been on at some point but with out me.

Appendices

This started as a 'top 5 ' but went over budget even so and as kindly pointed out how could I exclude -

There - better now.

Any more thoughts or additions would be appreciated
